Classification Problems of the Azerbaijani Dialects

The article investigates the classification of Azerbaijani dialects. It shows that study dialects began in 19th century. However, this work has become more widespread since beginning 20th prominent commentator classification, founded by F. Kocharli, B. Chobanzadeh, gave an outstanding speech M. Shiraliyev. For first time, he grouped and accents with phonetic, morphological, lexical, syntactic features, according to historical geographical principles. Shiraliyev’s been widely used linguistics for many years. Further development field dialectology extensive dialectological researches made it necessary revise Shiraliyev's classification. After 1980s, issue became relevant, linguists like G. Dorfer, E. Azizov, B.Rasuloglu, L. Johanson, J. Heyet, Mammadli conducted living North South have valuable comments. Studies show can be into three main groups their common characteristics: North-east dialect; western southern dialect. These also include voices Azerbaijanis outside Republic Azerbaijan - Iran, Iraq, Georgia. In addition, there are transitional mixed which some features two themselves.
